Cost of replacing the battery of an electric rickshaw varies on several factors
The electric three-wheeler industry is rapidly growing in India, especially when we talk about the e-rickshaws which have resulted in massive growth oppotunities for many companies in India. They are more than just a regular means of transport, offering a versatile use whether in a business or for any other task which require more transportation and less money. The key component in these electric rickshaws is the battery.
While several manufacturers are still offering Lead-Acid batteries as a cheaper alternative, many have started offering high-performance lithium ion batteries that offer more range and efficiency per kilometre. While these new-age batteries offer good range and performance, they can be very expensive to replace. In this article, we’ll talk about these electric batteries and how much does it costs to replace it in an electric rickshaw.
Factors Which Affect Battery Replacement Costs in Electric Rickshaws
First up the cost of the battery, that varies from whether the battery is a lithium-ion or a lead-acid type. While the lithium-ion battery is expensive compared to lead acid batteries, it provides longer range, better efficiency and performance. Next up comes the battery capacity which affects the overall cost of the battery. Higher capacity batteries typically offer more range, and are usually expensive than low capacity batteries.
Several other factors also afffect the overall cost such as the quality and the brand making the battery. Premium batteries tend to cost more in terms of cost, offer better reliability, good warranty and perform better compared to low-grade batteries. The more the quality of the battery, the more the price would increase.
Other than that, battery costs even more if you cost labour costs for manufacturing the batteries. The cost of installing the battery makes up for the overall cost of the battery. Several service centres charge additional fee for its components and modifications required for its installation.
Battery Replacement Cost for Electric Rickshaws in India
In today’s times, battery technology have been improved and have advanced in these years. The cost of replacing the batteries depends upon the battery type, capacity, brand and supplier, quality and several others.
In general a typical 48V lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 40 to 50Ah costs around Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000 in the market. More powerful batteries with 60 to 70Ah costs upwards of Rs. 50,000 in India. The higher the capacity is, the higher the price goes for the battery.
