Mercedes-Benz latest EQS SUV to launch in India on September 16; Know key features
Mercedes-Benz India is all-set to launch its new EQS SUV lineup in the country after the grand launch of the Maybach EQS SUV. The automaker announced its upcoming EQS SUV will officially launch in India on September 16.
The standard EQS will be company’s 6th all-electric car after the launch of its EQS Sedan, EQB, EQC, EQA, EQE SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV. The new SUV will be positioned below the more expensive Maybach EQS model and and above the EQE SUV in India.

Design Interior & Features
Starting with the design, the new EQS SUV packs a stunning-looking front and rear with smooth line starting at the front and finishing at the rear. The curcy looks and smooth appeal makes this car a true EV Merc, offering both staggering efficiency and better range due to improved aerodynamics. The streamlined aesthetics offers a black panel grille on the front with angular LED headlights with DRL, a horizontal LED light bar which resembles company’s EQ lineup.
The standard EQS SUV packs less chrome finishes and dual-paint scheme found in the more expensive Maybach EQS SUV. Mercedes-Benz India might offer optional AMG package with the standard model which offers several design changes to the car from sleek rear and front bumpers to more performance. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV measures 5,125mm in length, 1,959mm in width, 1,718mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,210 mm.
As for the inteior, the EQS SUV will come with a single 580 4Matic variant in India. It offers several advanced features such as the company’s three-screen Hyperscreen display which combines a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch central infotainment screen, and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen, new head-up display with augmented reality navigation as optional package, optional 7-seater configuration and more.
Performance, Range & Charging
The standard EQS SUV will come with two electric motors with standard all-wheel drive, generating a combined power output of 544 hp and 858 Nm. The electric SUV also packs a large 118 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which is capable of delivering claimed range of 643 Km on a single charge. It can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 4.7 seconds and offers a top speed of 210 kph.
The EQS SUV can also use a 200kW DC fast charger that can juice it up from 10 to 80% in just 31 minutes. The SUV comes with a standard 7.4kW AC charger which takes around 18.5 hours to fully charge the SUV.
Price & Rivals
As for the price, the new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV will start at around Rs. 1.79 Crore to upwards of Rs. 2 Crore for its trim. It is an expensive model even if it launches with its single top-spec 580 4Matic trim in India. The electric SUV will rival the BMW iX, Lotus Eletre, and the Audi E-Tron SUV lineup in India.
