Volkswagen to soon launch its first-ever electric off-road SUV, the ID.Xtreme
Volkswagen is among the world’s largest automaker with several models which span over the carmaker’s portfolio. VW began experimenting with electric vehicle tech back in 2009 by appointing Carl-Thomas Neumann as the Group Chief Office for the brand’s electric vehicle divison.
Since 2016, VW has over 6 hybrid cars and 3 all-electric models in its portfolio and expecting to launch more all-electric cars by the end of 2030 and several hybrid cars by 2025. One of which is the brands ID.Xtreme, making it as the world’s first dedicated off-road EV.
Volkswagen plans to launch its brand-new electric off-roader next year and aims to enter several markets with it. Let’s dig in and take a look at the top features of the upcoming electric car from VW.
Volkswagen’s new ID.Xtreme Design
Volkswagen recently introduced its first electric-only off-road vehicle, the ID.Xtreme. This electric SUV is specifically designed for EV enthusiasts who are looking for adventures under any kind of terrain no matter if its a safari in jungle, forest area, sandy mountain slope, or a muddy trail. This electric off-roader is built for powerful performance while the motor produces enough power for any kind of tasks with a decent amount of range.
This vehicle is based on VW’s own ID.4 GTX e-SUV offering several enhancements from its rugged off-road look and more. The EV comes equipped with a modified car bar, redesigned front bumper, and 50 mm wider wings. The new VW ID.Extreme also includes an extra LED light bar on the roof and a fully electric All-Wheel Drive system for extreme off-road activities.
Volkswagen ID. Xtreme Performance
The new ID.Xtreme will be Volkswagen’s first electric off-road vehicle which takes a bold step towards offering high performance with its electric powertrain. The EV impresses with its electric-only approach and rugged design at the same time, elevating the performance to another level making it a perfect vehicle for rough terrains.
Several key performance improvements include a new high-performance driving mode with its rear-axle drive. Volkswagen has done an incredible job in the car’s software department to offer consistent performance under any driving conditions. The ID.Xtreme will offer improved performance with up to 285 kW (boosted to 65KW compared to the regular ID.GTX).
Advanced Features
More features include new noise cancellation technology which cuts out external noise while driving. The EV also offers new customizable sound system that offers a unique auditory experience while drviing.
Along with that, the new ID.Extreme will also offer a comfortable interior which is designed with several rugged materials and enough comfort to accommodate 5 people. Compared to the ID.GTX, the new ID.Extreme will offer revamped seat design with new orange accented interior with Alcantara highlighting its interior.
